Records Officer Monthly Report – July 2023

Welcome to the forth report of the 2023 outdoor shooting season.

Club Records

One new club record was set and one existing club record beaten in July.

Certificates were awarded to the following archers:

  • S Danes – U12 Women’s Recurve record for:
    • Warwick 30 (Short Junior Warwick) – Score 265 (previous record 263)
  • Linda Wright – Senior Women’s Barebow record for:
    • Windsor – Score 618 (no previous record)

Classifications

 The following Classification Badges were awarded under the new Archery GB Classification Scheme:

  • Paul Horsley – Bowman 3rd Class,
  • Steve Millard – Archer 1st Class.

Badges were awarded to the following archers:

  • 50yd – Progress

Laurance Nairne:

  • 40yd – 252 & Progress

Mark Nightingale:

  • 40yd – 252 & Progress

  • 20yd – 252

Competitions

DCAS Summer Postal

The following scores were submitted, and as you can see from the results below the club is performing exceptionally well:

Seven of our eight teams won their rounds this month, even Short Warwick team 4 and Junior Short Warwick team 2, who only had one score submitted each. Unfortunately only one score was submitted towards the Compound Long Warwick team, and they were beaten by Wadebridge who had only submitted two scores.

  • The Compound team lost against Wadebridge (338 – 856)
  • The Longbow team won against Barnstaple (500 – 452)
  • The Mixed ‘A’ team won against Exmoor ‘A’ (1144 – 1133)
  • The Mixed ‘B’ team won against Wadebridge ‘B’ (1028 – 688)
  • The Mixed ‘C’ team won against Kyrton Archers ‘B’ (930 – 378)
  • The Mixed ‘D’ team won against Junction ‘B’ (269 – DNS)
  • The Mixed Junior ‘A’ team won against Wadebridge ‘B’ (851 – 150)
  • The Mixed Junior ‘B’ team won against Exmouth ‘B’ (185 – DNS)

Jack & Neill have retained their titles as the highest scoring U16 Boys Recurve Archer and highest scoring Gents Longbow Archer with a score of 275, respectively.

After the third month, of the five month competition, the team standings are as follows:

  • Long Warwick Compound Team – 3rd place in Division 1 (N/C)
  • Warwick Longbow team – 2nd place in Division 2 (N/C)
  • Short Warwick Team A – 1st place in Division 1 (Up from 2nd)
  • Short Warwick Team B – 2nd place in Division 2 (N/C)
  • Short Warwick Team C –  1st place in Division 3 (N/C)
  • Short Warwick Team D – 1st place in Division 4 (Up from 3rd)
  • Short Junior Warwick Team A – 1st place in Division 2 (N/C)
  • Short Junior Warwick Team B – 3rd place in Division 2 (Up from 4th)







Once again can I please remind you all that this is a monthly competition so we all need to be shooting our Warwick rounds for entry into the August round. This is open to all club members who are currently capable of shooting the relevant distances.

Our teams are really well placed but we need your scores in order to keep the momentum up, and be in with a chance of winning a number of the Divisions.

Coronation Competition

A further 3 score sheets were submitted in July for this internal club competition, which means to date that only 8 people have taken part. Five of these have qualified for a gold medal and three for a silver medal.

The competition is open to all club members and we have decided to extend the closing date of the competition to the 22nd September to give people more time to submit a round, and be in with a chance to win one of the following medals.

The competition details can be found here, anyone with a 20 yard 252 or AGB Progress award, or above, can shoot a Windsor round and be in with the chance to win a Coronation medal.

Shooting a successful Windsor round will also go a long way towards an Archer Classification.
