1 October 2023
Welcome to the September report of the 2023 outdoor shooting season.
Having reviewed a number of shooting record cards, the following new club records have been set and certificates are being awarded:
The club records will be reviewed against the age categories and round titles recently revised by Archery GB. However this may not be completed until we have reviewed the new Archery GB have Indoor Classification system.
The following outdoor Classification Badges were awarded under the new Archery GB Classification Scheme:
More information on classification can be found here, or speak to me on a shooting night. You can start to shoot outdoor classification rounds once you have achieved your 20 yard 252 or AGB Progress award, and start working towards your first Archer Classification.
Archery GB have now released the revised Indoor classification scheme, a link to the new tables can be found on the Rounds and Classifications page of the clubs website.
Badges were awarded to the following archers:
More information on the two progress schemes – including the AGB Indoor Progress awards – can be found here, or speak to me at one of our club sessions.
September marked the final month of the DCAS Summer Postal League. The following scores were submitted by members of the club and as you can see from the results below the club is performing exceptionally well:
In September we had 2 walk overs, 2 wins and 4 losses. So achieved a 50% win ratio.
The final result of the competition is that our teams:
Jack & Neill have retained their titles as the highest scoring U16 Boys Recurve Archer (390) and highest scoring Gents Longbow Archer (275) respectively. This is even more spectacular given that Neill has only been shooting for 18 months, and Jack for less than 12 months. Well done to both archers.
The competition has now finished, well done to everyone who took part. 20 people submitted medal qualifying scores and the medals are currently in production and will be with me in due course.
And the winners are………………
A great day out was had by the six archers from Yelverton Bowmen at the DCAS Autumn Gold competition, hosted in glorious sunshine by Redruth Archers.
Linda Wright, Jill Hudson, Corey Richardson, Steve Marsh, John Pengilley & Seraya shot either Albion or Windsor rounds.
The full results for the competition are as follows:
The day was capped off with Linda Wright winning the Ladies Barebow Albion, Steve Marsh winning the Gents Barebow Windsor and Seraya winning the Junior Windsor 30 competitions.
