Club Records

A large number of club records have been scored in the period due to the number of target days, interior and exterior competitions held.

Records shot between September 2025 and January 2026:

Emma Broadhurst – Senior Womens Longbow:

  • Frostbite – Score 227 (Previous record 184)
  • WA 1440 (Ladies) / Metric I – Score 449 (Previous record 424)

Samantha Horton – Senior Womens Longbow:

The following Classification levels have been achieved, and badges are in the process of being awarded under the new Archery GB Classification Scheme.

Just a quick reminder that Outdoor Archery GB awards are no longer being issued by the club. We have chosen to concentrate on the 252 Scheme for outdoor progress.

Competitions

DCAS Summer Postal 2025

The club entered the following teams into the DCAS Summer Postal Warwick Leagues which ran between May & September 2025:

  • One Senior and Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Long Warwick team
  • One Senior and Junior over 16 Compound Long Warwick team
  • One Senior and Junior over 16 Longbow Warwick team
  • Two Senior and Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Warwick 50 teams
  • One Junior U16 Mixed Style Warwick 30 team

There are three archers per team, and the club will collate the scores in descending order and the highest scores will be entered each month. Scores will need to be submitted on a club score sheet and signed as indicated. The rules for the competition can be found on the DCAS Postal Competitions page, and the associated score sheet on the Club Score Sheets page.

The following scores were submitted for the final round of the competition in September:

The final team positions are as follows:

  • Senior and Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Long Warwick team – Finished in 2nd place in Division 1
  • Senior and Junior over 16 Compound Long Warwick team – Finished in 2nd place in Division 1
  • Senior and Junior over 16 Longbow Warwick team – Finished in 2nd place in Division 1
  • Senior and Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Warwick 50 team ‘A’ – Finished in 1st place in Division 1

Submission of a DCAS Summer Postal score sheet also give you the opportunity to earn a Six Gold, Three Gold (Longbow) badge if you shoot the relevant score on the longest distance of your round. DCAS Portsmouth Winter Postal 2025/26

The club has entered the following teams into the DCAS Winter Postal Portsmouth Leagues:

  • Three Senior Recurve/Barebow team
  • One Senior Compound team
  • One Senior Longbow team
  • One Junior U16 Mixed Style team

The following scores were submitted for the November round of the competition:

Unfortunately all of our teams lost in November. The team positions after round one are as follows:

  • Senior Recurve/Barebow team ‘A’ – 6th place in Division 1
  • Senior Recurve/Barebow team ‘B’ – 6th place in Division 3
  • Senior Recurve/Barebow team ‘C’ – 6th place in Division 5
  • Senior Compound team – 6th place in Division 2
  • Senior Longbow team – 6th place in Division 2
  • Junior U16 Mixed Style team – 3rd place in Division 1

External Competitions

Exmouth Archers Indoor Tournament – 16th November

This was a World Archery UK Record Status event shooting WA 18m rounds. 12 Yelverton Bowmen archers took part and achieved the following results:

  • Recurve Open:
    • Andrew Axworthy finished in 1st place
    • Jon Day finished in 4th place
    • Andrew Howie finished in 5th place
    • Alan Horton finished in 7th place
  • Recurve Women:
    • Grace Addicott finished in 8th place
  • Recurve Junior Women:
    • Maya Hojat finished in 1st place
  • Compound Open:
    • Iain Lees finished in 4th place
    • Corey Richardson finished in 6th place
    • Gary Wong finished in 8th place
  • Barebow Open:
    • John Pengilley finished in 1st place
  • Longbow Open:
    • Neill White finished in 6th place
  • Longbow Women:
    • Samantha Horton finished in 3rd place

South West and Wales University League Leg 3: Bath and Aberystwyth – 29th November 2025

Two Yelverton Bowmen shot for the University of Plymouth at Leg 3 of this academic years SWWU League in Bath in November, shooting a Portsmouth round.

Corey Richardson placed 3rd, taking the bronze medal, in the Compound Experienced Open category with a score of 551. Grace Addicott score 496, a new competition personal best, placing in 4th, narrowly beating out the 5th place archer with the same score with the tiebreak being decided on number of tens!

National Indoor Championships – 5th to 6th December 2025

Six Yelverton Bowmen archers travelled to Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire to compete in Archery GB’s National Indoor Championships in December, and shot a WRS WA 18m round.

  • Recurve Open:
    • Alex Rowe finished in 95th place
  • Recurve Women:
    • Grace Addicott finished in 92nd place
  • Compound Open:
    • Corey Richardson finished in 69th place
  • Barebow Open:
    • Harry Clemence finished in 69th place
  • Barebow Women:
    • KT Pollington finished in 17th place, after being knocked out in the first round of Head-To-Head matches
    • Jorja Reid finished in 45th place

And Finally…

As we have now moved indoors, we will continue to shoot the Yelverton Bowmen Bray I League until the end of March. Details of the competition can be found here and will effectively make every indoor session, from the beginning of October to the end of March, a target day. Rounds shot on club Target days will allow archers to submit scores in support of a Bowman classification.
