Competitions
DCAS Summer Postal 2025
The club has entered the following teams into the DCAS Summer Postal Warwick Leagues:
- One Senior & Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Long Warwick team
- One Senior & Junior over 16 Compound Long Warwick team
- One Senior & Junior over 16 Longbow Warwick team
- Two Senior & Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Warwick 50 teams
- One Junior U16 Mixed Style Warwick 30 team
There are three archers per team, and the club will collate the scores in descending order and the highest scores will be entered each month. Scores will need to be submitted on a club score sheet and signed as indicated. The rules for the competition can be found on the DCAS Postal Competitions page, and the associated score sheet on the Club Score Sheets page.
The following scores were submitted for the June, July & August rounds of the competition:

After four months of the competition team positions are as follows:
- Senior & Junior over 16 Mixed (non-Compound) Long Warwick team – 2nd place in Division 1 (equal in points with 1st place but behind on total score)
- Senior & Junior over 16 Compound Long Warwick team – 2nd place in Division 1

Submission of a DCAS Summer Postal score sheet also gives you the opportunity to earn a Six Gold, Three Gold (Longbow) badge if you shoot the relevant score on the longest distance of your round. Six Gold, Three Gold End Badge Winners This Month
- Neill White (Longbow) – 3 gold end badge
BUCS Outdoor Championships (14th and 15th of June 2025)
Three student archers travelled to Lilleshall in June to compete in the British University and College Sports Outdoor Archery Championships. This competitions consisted of two days of shooting in windy conditions with day one being a WA 720 seeding round followed by Head-to-Heads, and Day 2 being a WA 900 round.
In the WA 50m (Compound) seeding round, Corey Richardson scored 554, seeding in 17th place. He won his first Head-to-Head match against 16th seed 128-115 before being knocked out by the 1st place seed 143-112.
For the WA 50m (Barebow) seeding round, KT Pollington seeded in 6th place with a score of 401 whilst Marilyn Wong cleared the rest of the field in 1st place with a score of 499. Both of these archers received a Bye in the first round of Head-to-Heads, automatically proceeding to the Round of 16. KT won their first match 6-0 before being knocked out in the quarter-finals by a 6-2 margin. Marilyn won both her Round of 16 and quarter-final match through convincing 6-0 victories, but lost her semi-final match by a close 6-4 margin. She then also lost her bronze medal match 6-2, with only an overall 4 arrow-scoring points between it.
On Day 2, the archers shot a WA 900 round. Corey scored 799/900, placing in 13th place. KT scored 487 placing in 6th place, giving THEM a consistent 6th place in all three events – WA 720 qualification, Head-to-Heads and WA 900 – and an overall event placing of 5th place! Marilyn shot a score of 572, placing in 2nd by just 1 point!
Overall, Marilyn enough event points to claim the BUCS Outdoor Championships silver medal!

DCAS/Exmouth July WA 50m/70m and WA1440 (5th and 6th July 2025)
This was a combined 2 day event with medals and trophies awarded to those who shot on both days. Day one consisted of a Double WA 720 followed by WA1440 round on day two.
Day 1:
- John Pengilley finished in 1st place, scoring 1140 in the Mens Double WA 50m Barebow category. However as John only shot on one day he did not medal.
- Neill White finished in 2nd place, scoring 632 in the Mens Double WA 70m Longbow category.
Day 2:
- Emma Broadhurst finished in 3rd place, scoring 449 in the Women’s WA 1440 70m Longbow category.
- Neill White finished in 2nd place, scoring 658 in the Mens WA 1440 90m Longbow category. As Neill shot on both days he claimed the silver medal in the Men’s Longbow category, well done to Neill.

Bowman of Wadebridge WRS Double 720 (19th July)
Three Yelverton Bowmen Archers made their way to Wadebridge to shoot in the Double 720 Competition.
- Jon Day scored 1081 and finished in 2nd place in the Men’s Recurve 50+ category.
- Neill White scored 625 and took the gold medal finishing 1st in the Men’s Longbow category.
- Gary Wong scored 477 and finished in 2nd place in the Men’s Longbow category.

Redruth Archers Double WA 1440 (2nd and 3rd August 2025)
The same three intrepid archers then made their way to Redruth to compete in the Double 1440 competition.
Day 1:
- John Day scored 1020 and finished the day in 6th place.
- Neill White scored 493 and finished the day in 3rd place.
- Gary Wong scored 427 and finished the day in 4th place.
Day 2:
- John Day scored 1018 and finished the day in 8th place but 5th place overall in the Men’s Recurve category.
- Neill White scored 622 and finished the day in 1st place and 1st place, taking the gold medal, overall in the Men’s Longbow category.
- Gary Wong scored 471 and finished the day in 3rd place and 3rd place overall in the Men’s Longbow category.

DCAS Championships/Exmouth Archers WA Weekend (16th and 17th August 2025)
Day 1 – Exmouth WA 720 and Heads to Heads:
- Corey Richardson scored 579 and finished in 8th place in the ranking round. Having made it through the first round of the Head-to-Heads Corey was then unfortunately knocked out in round 2 by the eventual winner of the Compound Mens category.
- Parker Fewings scored 357 in the ranking round and was unfortunately knocked out in the first round of the Head-to-Heads by John, finishing in 4th place. Linda Wright scored 422 in the ranking round but was knocked out in the Head-to-Heads finishing in 3rd place taking the bronze medal. John Pengilley scored 525 in the ranking round and won both rounds of his Head-to-Heads, taking the gold medal.
Day 2 – DCAS Championship WA 1440:
- Linda Wright scored 560 and finished in 2nd place on the Women’s WA 1440 Barebow category.
- John Pengilley scored 743 and finished in 1st place, taking the gold medal and Tankard, in the Men’s WA 1440 Barebow category.

And Finally…
As we have now moved indoors, we will introduce the Yelverton Bowmen Bray I League at the beginning of October. Details of the competition can be found here and will effectively make every indoor session, from the beginning of October to the end of March, a target day. Rounds shot on club Target days will allow archers to submit scores in support of a Bowman classification.
